It was an easy day today at Sorrueda, nobody climbing really hard core stuff, but loads of people and loads of climbs made this Sunday a very nice one.

By the way, Chris broke one hold on Bailando con romos 7c? so now it’s a bit harder.

Hoy fué un día fácil en Sorrueda, nadie estaba intentando cosas muy duras pero, una buena multitud y mucha escalada hiceieron que este Domingo fuera bastante divertido.

We just couldn’t wait for the weekend and it seems like many other had the same feeling, so we went down to Fataga and met with quite a few more climbers.

There was a bit of everything, Norbe finished bolting his route, did a bit of cleaning and put a bit of glue on some rocks.

The girls started a climbing marathon and needed to stop because there was no more light, imagine that.

The guys were trying a bit of everything, the warming sector was a bit busy and the cave was even more crowded.

In the end we all had a good laugh.

Simplemente no pudimos esperar al fin de semana y parece que muchos otro sentían lo mismo, así que bajamo a Fataga y nos reunimos con algunos escaladores mas.

Hubo un poco de todo, Norbe terminó de equipar su vía, la limpió y pegó algunas cosas que hacía falta.

Las niñas comenzaron con un maratón de escalada y tuvieron que parar porque se quedaron sin luz, imaginate eso.

We went back to Salto del Perro, trying to finish the routes we had started bolting and starting new ones.

Richard finished with his beast, he thinks it might be something around 8c, but nobody has tried it yet so we will need to wait for a brave man (or for him to come back to the island).

Jorge from To’Patras made great progress with his routes, he cleaned a bit of one of his 7s but he also glued a couple of things that needed it and now we can say that his 7a+ is open to public. The other one is also ready but nobody has tried it since glue needed to dry for a day so we don´t know the grade yet.

Xerach did a bit of progress with his variant of the 7a+, the route is almost ready but it still needs one chemical bolt in a section that doesn’t sound very solid.

After that he wen’t climbing with Sito, pair of bastards.

And Chris bolted and climbed with Sito a new route that he baptized Tequila, we are thinking it is a 6c but not so sure, it might be al ittle more so we’ll need to wait for other climbers to give their opinions.

By the way, the route isn’t quite finished yet, we need to place another bolt before the end and the anchor isn’t there either, so check the date of this article, we will post another one when the route is open to everybody. Just look for Tequila on the searchbox.

Fuimos de nuevo al Salto del Perro a tratar de terminar las vías que habíamos comenzado y a empezar otras nuevas.

Richard terminó con su bestia, el piensa que ronda por el 8c pero nadie la ha intentado así que tendremos que esperar por un hombre valiente (o a que regrese a la isla).

Jorge de To’Patrás progresó muchísimo con sus rutas, limpió y terminó de equipar su otro séptimo pero además les puso pegamento a ambas vías y ahora podemos decir que están abiertas al público.

Xerach progresó un poco con su variante del 7a+, la vía está casí terminada pero todaví le falta un químico largo en una sección que no suena muy sólida. Después de eso se fué a escalar con Sito, par de bribones.

Chris equipó una vía que después escaló con Sito y a la que bautizó Tequila, pensamos que es un 6c pero podría ser un poco más así que esperaremos a la opinión de otros escaladores.

Only few routes are possible because the quality of the rock isn´t great in the whole cave but the ones that are doable look quite amazing. Coming soon.

Hay un sector potencial a un lado del Salto del Perro.

Solo algunas vías son posibles de equipar ya que la calidad de la roca no es genial en toda la cueva, pero las que salen tienen muy buena pinta.

Today was a good day at Salto del Perro, one of the hardest crags on Gran Canaria, we were 4 climbers bolting new routes and that is exactly what this area needs, since even thought the place is stunning, the fact that there are only extremely difficult routes makes it a bit difficult to attract people.

Luckily Chris Sharma liked the place and he was able to  confirm the grade of few routes, unluckily he wasn´t feeling like trying the projects.

Anyway, 3 new routes started today, Ricardo started what seems to be another extreme route, Jorge started another one a bit more decent but still very difficult and Xerach and Chris started what looks like a medium 7th, but also cleaned a bit of the brand new 7a+ and it’s now ready to go. Well it was alreay done by Jorge after he bolted it but it needed a bit more cleaning (and still does a tiny more), the point is that finally there is an ok route for warming up, just keep in mind that it still has some loose bits so helmet is recommended, specially for the belayer.

Hoy fue un buen día en Salto del Perro, uno de los sectores mas duros de Gran Canaria, eramos 4 escaladores equipando y eso es exactamente lo que esta zona necesita, ya que incluso cuando el sitio es impactante, el hecho de que solo existan vías de dificultad extrema, hace que no sea muy atractivo para muchas personas.

Por suerte a Chris Sharma le gustó el lugar y fue capaz de confirmar algunos grados pendientes, desafortunadamente no tenía apetito para probar los proyectos.

3 nuevas vías se comenzaron hoy, Ricardo empezó lo que parece ser otro proyecto extremo, Jorge empezó con otra un poco mas decente pero de todas formas super dura y Xerach y Chris empezaron lo que tiene pinta de ser un séptimo medio, pero también limpiaron un poco del nuevo 7a+ y este se encuantra ahora listo para escalar, bueno, mas bien ya estaba hecho por el mismo Jorge que la hizo después de equiparla lo que pasa es que le faltaba algo de limpieza (y todavía le queda un poco mas) el punto es que finalmente existe una vía algo decente para calentar, sin embargo no hay que olvidar que todavía tiene roca suelta y un casco es mas que recomendable sobre todo para el asegurador.
